Mister Kpakpato - Westerners attacks against Islam

Dear Westerners,

Lately, our world has noted the emergence of a phenomenon as embarrassing as distressing: that of the numerous attacks from a group of Western intellectuals against Islam, especially insulting caricatures of Prophet Mahomet. You will certainly think this: “Here is another defender of Arabs and Moslems cause”. But let me tell you that “Mister Kpakpato” is neither Christian nor Moslem, but simply a “Citizen of the World” who is especially in love of Peace, Freedom, Justice and International Solidarity. Besides, “Mister Kpakpato” cannot see the point of a religious stratification of God sons we are. That is another absurdity from Humanity but given that it is the way things go let’s accept our differences and try to live in harmony the ones with the others. Moslems, Christians, animists, “Hinduists”, Buddhists, atheists and so on… We are all descendants of the same God of Love, Tolerance and Kindness. There is no one among us who is the favourite of God while the others would be “second zone” creatures. Not at all! The way of praising God differs quite simply from a group of persons to the other according to their history and Culture. Such is “Mister Kpakpato”’s idea of Religion and even if you do not agree it does not matter.

Now, I would like to get back to Westerners attacks against Islam and caricatures of Prophet Mahomet. People who have done such things through films, writings and drawings put that down to Freedom of speech. Very well then… However “Mister Kpakpato” thinks that this freedom should have been used with better knowledge. Quite simply by preaching Dialogue of Cultures and bringing together Religions given that these subjects are seriously connected to “people heart”. That is why it is necessary to act with a great responsibility in order to avoid drifts with the damaging consequences. Perhaps you do not know how frustrating is the fact of denying a people his beliefs but “Mister Kpakpato” does. Let me tell you that as Africans’ original religion was compared by your ancestors during the Colonization time to satanic practices to banish. Worse, when Priests and Missionaries’ speeches were considered insufficient then it was whip that took over. Later on, Africans have finally known through writings attributed to your former monarchs that european missionaries and priests had not faced storms and oceans with makeshift boats quite simply to carry “Good News” (Gospel) to Africans but rather “to prepare the arrival of industrialists (manufacturers) and Civil Service” according to Belgium King Leopold II’s speech. At the end, a lot of Africans have today a complex about Animism whereas many of them devote themselves discreetly to the practice of this Religion.
So by noting the resurgence of “Negation of other people’s Religion”, I have a hunch our world seriously moves back towards the demons of our past of which the most common names were: Confrontations, wars, miseries and desolation… Whereas, we do not have the right to bring about such a regression. Humanity must rather make progress through Love and mutual respect as condition for a durable Peace.

Dear Western intellectuals, may you act in a responsible way by avoiding gratuitous insults and offences. Use your Freedom of speech to contribute to the improvement of our world. Moslems are not your enemies. Your enemies’ names are the following ones: Arrogance, Intolerance, contempt, lack of responsibility… Moslems have ways of acting which can appear incomprehensible for people who do not share their Culture and their beliefs. They also have the same difficulty to understand your western lifestyle. Idem for Africans, Asians and so on… Such is the way God has created our world and if we would like other people to share our Culture, solutions are Dialogue for opinions exchanges and more explanation, and mutual respect. But be aware that can take place as time goes by. So no more gratuitous provocations and especially campaign against Islam. Your Prophet is called Jesus Christ and the Moslems’ one (who recognizes yours) is called Mahomet. It is in this Prophet that the whole Moslems community trusts and all their lifestyle is based on his teachings. So how can you hope to preserve a climate Peace in the world if you do not stop disparaging a billion adepts-strong Religion by attacking all its bases?

“Mister Kpakpato” who attaches a great importance to values like Love, Tolerance, mutual acceptance, Dialogue of Cultures, the right to be different, Justice and the International Solidarity as conditions for a durable Peace in the world would like to express you his total disapproval by inviting you to have more reserve and responsibility. May you find in the faith in our “common GOD” the strength to love and accept other people with their differences. And our world will feel all the better for it.
